After reorganization in the August, we have one drive in campout a month through December. The October campout is usually the Fall Camporee. Our January outing is a ski trip to the White Mountains of Arizona. Our February through May outings are overnight backpacking hikes of between three to twenty miles. During spring break, the more experienced scouts participate in a '50 miler' while the younger Scouts go on a '20 miler'. After school lets out in May, we do another High Adventure or '50 miler'. This outing is open to most of the youth of the Troop. In June we attend summer camp at Camp Geronimo outside Payson, Arizona. Every two to three years, we attend Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimmeron New Mexico. Every other year, we send a small contingent to the National Order of the Arrow Conference and the Pimaree. Boys who want to become patrol leaders in the troop attend either the Polaris or Silver Axe week-long junior leader training conferences. Through out the year, special activities are scheduled for 'Stars' (youth of at least Star rank and fourteen years of age). These special activities have included: Scuba diving in the Gulf of Baja, Caving and Repelling, and other strenuous High Adventure.
